Paws-Ability's First Annual
Wag Shag

Paws-Ability, the Brunswick County non-profit organization that raises funds to aid no-kill animal shelters and animal rescue groups, held a festive event, Wag Shag, for animal lovers on Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2008 in the ballroom at Sea Trail Conference Center.
Wag Shag began with an old-fashioned picnic and pet parade, complete with th
e crowning of a King and Queen. Scruffy Gunter was crowned as Queen for the day while Dino Hoskins accepted the crown of the King. Seventy-five socialized, well dressed and well-behaved canine companions brought their humans came along to join the fun. Entertainment was provided by D.J. T Big Bopper, followed by dog dancing, shag and canine demonstrations. Doggie contests featured “Best dressed”, “best kisser”, “best tail wager and largest and smallest. Many canine attendees dressed smartly for the occasion. Riley Hare, quite the smart dresser, won the “best dressed” sporting a lovely turquoise tutu, complete with matching toenails! Canine escorts were also available for those desiring a doggie date for the afternoon. A grand time was had by all with over $7000 raised for the local animal shelters and rescue groups.
